Down some photos of the project Emily.
Fresh off the plane from Australia in March 2011, Emily learned she'd been nominated for five Vancouver Island Music awards while on stage at Canadian Music Fest in Toronto. She won "Female Vocalist of the Year" in June, and toured BC throughout the Fall.
A hint of Imogen Heap-meets-Zap Mama with a splash of Feist, she blends jazz & blues with layered harmonies over vocal percussion, traveling the globe with her loop machine, laptop and microphone.
A "Gypsy Pirate Tour" of BC in 2011 included a showcase at the Vancouver Island Music Business Conference, the Vancouver Island Music Awards, Komasket Music Festival, The Big Time Out, The Dancing Man Music Festival, Marine Fest, BC Shellfish Festival, Cortes Island Arts & Music Fest, Duncan Music Fest, and openings for Australian artist Kim Churchill.
Emily Spiller has taken her music through Canada, China, Australia, & New Zealand. She was awarded a FACTOR grant for her EP "The Wonderbro Remixes" (2010), and a CIRRA Groundbreaker Grant in 2011. To date, Emily has three self-released EPs, film & software licenses, collaborated on french duo Urihani's 2009 album, "Music for The Planet", and co-written a track with David Parfit for US Documentary "From Place to Place".
Recently, Emily was honoured to share the stage with Ash Grunwald in Vancouver. She will perform with Kim Churchill in June on her 2012 "One By One" Tour. Her 4th album will be revealed very soon...
